Message from the President

Seibu Lions, Inc. is positioned as the public face of the Seibu Group, which is involved in a wide range of business areas, including the Urban Transportation and Regional Business, the Hotel and Leisure Business, and the Real Estate Business, etc. Through our Saitama Seibu Lions Professional Baseball Business and Entertainment Business, we aim to provide customers with a wide range of exciting and fun experiences and to put smiles on their faces.

With the completion of the large-scale renovation works in the stadium area in March 2021, the BELLUNA DOME stadium has been transformed into a ballpark that will have great appeal for visiting fans, and with the provision of new and improved training facilities for the team, the BELLUNA DOME now offers an environment that will help to maximize player performance. When the renovation work was completed, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was necessary to impose restrictions on the number of spectators, etc., but in the 2023 season the fans will be allowed to express their support vocally again, and so the BELLUNA DOME will once again be a lively, invigorating place. With the Japanese team winning the final of the 2023 World Baseball Classic in March 2023 to become world champions, it is an exciting time for baseball. While continuing to create an environment for spectators in which they can enjoy safety and peace of mind, Seibu Lions, Inc. will also be making effective use of Digital Transformation (DX), etc. to provide spectators with the kind of experience that you can only get at a live game, and which will have people wanting to come back to the ballpark again, as we strive to realize a further enhancement in customer satisfaction.

In January 2023, with the aim of strengthening the team and enabling each individual player to maximize their potential, Seibu Lions, Inc. signed a sports medicine support partnership agreement with Teikyo University. In the spring of 2024, the Lions Clinic, an orthopedic clinic, is scheduled to begin operation at a location opposite from the BELLUNA DOME, providing high-level medical services not only for team members but also for local residents.

Over the past few years, Seibu Lions, Inc. has been speeding up the development of its facility management business, using the BELLUNA DOME as a venue not only for baseball games but also for concerts and a variety of other special events, and many leading performers, both from Japan and overseas, have appeared at the stadium. In the future, we will be working actively to make effective use of the facilities provided by the transformed ballpark, and of the available infrastructure, for example by organizing our own events.

Going forward, Seibu Lions, Inc. aims to be a company that contributes toward the realization of a prosperous, sustainable society, and which continues to be loved by local residents, in line with the Seibu Group slogan of “Smiles ahead.” We will also continue to challenge ourselves to generate powerful enthusiasm together with Saitama Seibu Lions fans, and to generate new kinds of excitement, through baseball and entertainment, in line with the company’s corporate vision of “Be strong together, be enthusiastic together.”

Professional Baseball Business: Saitama Seibu Lions

Saitama Seibu Lions is a professional baseball team that has been based in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture since 1979. “Saitama,” the name of the region where the team is located, was added to the name on January 1, 2008, to promote closer links with the local community. As the Saitama Seibu Lions, the team aims to be a team that is loved by its fans and closely integrated into the community.
If one includes the team’s previous existence as the Nishitetsu Lions, it has been the Pacific League champion 23 times, and has won the Japan Championship Series 13 times; no other team in the Pacific League can match either of these achievements.

Facility Management Business: BELLUNA DOME

BELLUNA DOME is a baseball stadium situated within the beautiful natural environment of the Sayama Hills. As the home of the Seibu Lions since 1979, this is a historic stadium that has seen many famous victories and defeats. Dome construction was undertaken at the stadium from the 1997 off-season through into the 1998 off-season. This was the first construction project of its kind in the world in which a roof was built over an existing baseball stadium. In 1999, the new stadium was born, embodying a brand-new concept that overturned conventional baseball stadium design, with an innovative design that combines features from indoor and outdoor stadiums.
In March 2021, a large-scale, three-year renovation of the dome area was completed, with the aim of making effective use of the beautiful natural scenery surrounding the stadium and of its unique partial dome, utilizing the space outside the roof to create a sense of openness and make this a ballpark in which spectators can enjoy the sights of the changing seasons. The transformed, reborn stadium is a ballpark that everyone can enjoy.
